Many companies struggle to develop missions and visions: How to make them demanding but not daunting? How to take into consideration the numerous but often contradictory perspectives? And how to make sure that your best efforts don’t end up as meaningless and unread text on your company homepage? Many organizations decide that it is better not to invest in a “mission impossible”.

We think this a pity. A well articulated and inspiring purpose statement can give an organization orientation. It can help the organization to communicate its priorities clearly and to focus on its activities and processes. In our opinion, these are good reasons to try again. There is no need for action heroes: We focus on you and your organization and support you with our tried and tested process that is also tailor-made for you.

And so your movie becomes a “Mission Possible”:

  • We plan the project step-by-step together with you.
How many and which bottom-up or top-down elements suit you?
Who should be involved and which “stars” will be in your team?
  • The development of a new purpose statement is an art in itself, as no one is like the other. Yet in our view the following steps should not be missing:

    • Diagnosis and understanding of different perspectives:
What do the stakeholders think? What does the business do? And what is the individual touch?
    • “Recording” of the new purpose statement in the overnight workshop – with you in the leading role
    • Audience test of the raw version with the most important stakeholders and then the final “cut”
  • After the finalization the actual work begins, just like in the film industry. The purpose statement must after all be anchored in the organization. Here the following questions must be answered:

    • Where do business and functional strategies and strategic initiatives need to be adapted to achieve the new vision?
    • What tangible signs that you are serious about the new mission statement already exist, what still have to be created?
    • Where do central functions and processes have to be adapted?
  • Finally, we roll out the red carpet for your new mission statement with creative and flexible communication formats such as:

    • Orchestrated middle management conference and staff town halls
    • Broadband communication, from the CEO letter to the employee newspaper
    • Directly addressing employees and executives via communication and workshop cascades
